Our New Grant from the Highmark Foundation

We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a substantial grant from the Highmark Foundation. This grant is a significant milestone for us, as it will greatly enhance our outreach and education efforts in health information technology (IT). The grant supports a new initiative to increase patient competency in connectivity, devices, and digital skills, which are crucial for accessing telehealth and other remote health services.

Who is the Highmark Foundation

The Highmark Foundation is a private, charitable organization dedicated to improving the health, well-being, and quality of life of individuals who reside in the communities served by Highmark, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates. It fulfills its mission by awarding high-impact grants to charitable organizations implementing evidence-based programs to improve community health. Central to its mission is identifying and continuously reevaluating our region’s healthcare needs.

What Highmark Foundation’s Grant Allows Us to Do

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, digitalization has become increasingly integral to healthcare delivery. PHN remains committed to staying at the forefront of these advancements to better serve its patients across 16 Pennsylvania counties and one Ohio. The grant will specifically fund establishing a Health IT Navigator position dedicated to educating patients and staff on using health-related technologies.

The Health IT Navigator will work closely with PHN’s Informatics Department to streamline internal IT support and enhance proficiency in digital tools among patients and staff. This strategic initiative is a testament to our unwavering commitment to fostering greater healthcare accessibility and empowering patients to manage their health proactively through technology. It aligns with PHN’s ongoing commitment to innovation in patient care, ensuring that our patients are always at the forefront of our efforts.

What Our Execs Have to Say

Dr. George Garrow, CEO of Primary Health Network, said, “We are deeply grateful to the Highmark Foundation for their generous support of this initiative. This grant represents a pivotal moment for PHN as we adapt to the evolving healthcare landscape. The Health IT Navigator will ensure our patients can easily navigate telehealth services and utilize tools like our Patient Portal for their healthcare needs.”

Thank You, Highmark Foundation

We are excited to embark on our enhanced health IT initiative with generous support from the Highmark Foundation. This grant will enable PHN to strengthen patient connectivity and digital skills, reinforcing our unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare accessibility and patient empowerment in our communities.
