We at are thrilled to announce that we’ve been awarded a grant from Delta Dental to enhance our dental services in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. This one-year grant is a game-changer for us, allowing us to expand and improve the dental care we offer in our community.
What this New Grant Means for Us
With this generous grant, we’ll be able to bring on board a Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner (PHDHP) and a Dentist. These new roles will be integrated into our existing medical and dental operations at two primary care locations. Our goal is to make dental care more accessible and to improve overall oral health outcomes for our patients.

Dr. George Garrow, our CEO, shared his excitement about the grant: “We are incredibly grateful to Delta Dental for their support of this crucial initiative. This grant will allow us to enhance our capacity to deliver comprehensive dental care to underserved populations in Mercer County. By adding a PHDHP and a Dentist to our team, we aim to broaden access to essential dental services and improve overall oral health in our community.”
Beth Weir, our Executive Director of Dental Services, also expressed her enthusiasm: “We’re absolutely thrilled about the opportunity this grant provides to elevate our dental care services. It allows us to offer more comprehensive cleanings and exams at our integrated sites, enriching the dental care we provide across multiple PHN locations.”
How We’ll Use the New Grant
The grant will specifically fund part-time positions for a PHDHP and a Dentist, which will ensure we have the necessary staffing for this program. We’ll also use some of the funds to purchase portable dental equipment, which will help us move resources between our sites and enhance integration efforts at our Sharon Medical Group Family Medicine and Health Shoppe in Farrell, PA.
What to Expect
Over the next year, we anticipate serving around 1,050 patients, including students, children, and underserved residents of Mercer County, thanks to the support from Delta Dental.
