Meet Lauren Shobel, RDH | Dental Regional Director Dental & Dental Hygienist

Lauren Schobel, RDH, is an integral member of the PHN Dental team, where she contributes to delivering and managing our Dental Health services. In her dual roles as a Dental Hygienist and Dental Regional Director, Lauren plays a vital part in ensuring the success of our programs. She joined PHN in April 2018 after earning her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from Youngstown State University.

Why Dental Hygiene is Important to Me

Growing up, I was fortunate enough to visit the dentist every 6 months and always had a great experience! I loved my pediatric dental office, the excellent dentist/staff, the fun colors, and being able to pick out a toothbrush at the end of my visit. I also went through orthodontic treatment and was amazed when looking at the before & after dental X-rays.

During every visit, I asked questions about how things worked and why things were done. I asked enough questions to make my hygienist curious if I wanted to work in the dental field. Eventually, she asked if I had ever thought about going to school to become a hygienist and offered me the opportunity to shadow her.

After seeing her passion and the excellent care she provided, it was clear that I wanted to go into the dental field. I’m passionate about giving people the same experience I had growing up. The dentist can be scary for many people, so if I could make it less frightening, I’m making a difference.
