Following the recent announcements from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Primary Health Network is now administering booster doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to all eligible patients and nonpatients.
For the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the following groups are eligible for a booster shot at 6 months or more after their initial series:
• 65 years and older
• Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings
• Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
• Age 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings
For individuals completing their primary series with mRNA vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer), they should receive two doses of the same product. Once they’ve completed their primary series and if they’re eligible for a booster dose, they may receive any one of the three available products.
It is important to note that a person who received one Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) dose is considered fully vaccinated. A single booster dose may be given no sooner than 2 months after the single dose of J & J. No additional booster doses would be appropriate afterwards, according to the current Emergency Use Authorization criteria.
There is no cost to receive any of the COVID-19 vaccines.
