Celebrating Community Health During NHCW

We’re celebrating community health as the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) hosts National Health Center Week (NHCW). This year, Primary Health Network (PHN) embraced the theme “Powering Communities Through Caring Connections,” demonstrating our unwavering commitment to enhancing community well-being. Here’s a recap of the vibrant activities and significant moments that made this year’s celebrations memorable.

Celebrating Community Health | A Week of Festivities and Engagement

During NHCW, PHN’s dedicated staff and supporters gathered to celebrate the invaluable role of health centers in our communities. The week was filled with events designed to highlight our mission and the impact of our work. From legislative tours to educational sessions, our activities highlighted the vital resources and compassionate care we provide to over 75,000 patients annually across 16 counties in Pennsylvania and one in Ohio.

One of the highlights was an engaging safety workshop led by Officer Sam Staples from the City of Hermitage’s Police Department. Officer Staples shared essential safety tips for navigating the complex world of social media, an increasingly important issue in today’s digital age. His insights were invaluable in helping our community members stay informed and safe online.

Celebrating Community Health | Engaging with Legislative Leaders

A cornerstone of NHCW is advocating for the needs of community health centers. This year, PHN had the honor of engaging with several legislative representatives and their staff, fostering discussions that emphasized the crucial work being done in our service areas. We were thrilled to meet with:

  • State Representative Marla Brown | Lawrence County
  • State Representative Parke Wentling | Mercer County
  • State Representative Patrick Harkins | Erie County
  • Selena King | Northwest Regional Representative for Senator Fetterman

These discussions not only highlighted the impact of our services but also underscored the importance of continued support and funding for community health centers. The feedback and support from our legislators are vital as we strive to address the evolving needs of our communities.

Health centers are more than just facilities; they are the heart of our communities. They provide accessible, affordable, and high-quality care to individuals regardless of their ability to pay. They also play a pivotal role in addressing health disparities, offering preventive services, and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to lead a healthy life.

As we reflect on the success of this year’s NHCW, we are reminded of the power of our collective efforts and the profound impact of our work. At Primary Health Network, we are proud to be a beacon of hope and strength in our communities, and we remain committed to “Powering Communities Through Caring Connections” every day of the year. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this important week and for your continued support in making a difference in the lives of those we serve.
