As we bid farewell to 2023, we find ourselves reflecting on the incredible journey we’ve had throughout the year and the positive impact we’ve collectively made in our local community. We are truly grateful for your steadfast support of the PHN Charitable Foundation, which has played a pivotal role in our success.
Thanks to your generosity and commitment, we are thrilled to share that over $66,000 was dedicated to local community sponsorships, fostering meaningful connections, and supporting vital initiatives right here in our neighborhood. Additionally, $30,000 was allocated towards healthcare scholarships, empowering aspiring healthcare professionals to pursue their dreams and make a lasting difference in the lives of others.
Our calendar was dotted with successful fundraising events, each one contributing significantly to our shared mission. The Swinging Fore Literacy Golf Outing, the 9th annual Shamrock ‘N Run, GivingTuesday, and PA OH Gives were not only memorable occasions but also powerful vehicles for change. Your participation and contributions made these events a resounding success, enabling us to further our commitment to literacy initiatives.
The proceeds from these events were dedicated to our literacy programs, including the Reach Out and Read Program and Little Free Libraries. Your support has helped us promote literacy and education, creating a ripple effect of positive change in the lives of countless individuals.
We’re also excited to share news of our recent initiative, Pedaling for Smiles. Through this program, we have partnered with Communicyle to provide free bikes to children in need, fostering a sense of joy, independence, and physical activity. Your support is instrumental in bringing smiles to the faces of these young individuals and creating lasting memories for them.
To offer you a comprehensive overview of the impact we’ve collectively achieved, we have included a full recap of each event, which can be found below. We hope you take a moment to browse through the highlights that capture the essence of our shared journey.
Once again, thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to the PHN Charitable Foundation. As we step into a new year, we look forward to continuing our partnership and making an even greater impact together.
We wish you a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year!
2022 Shamrock N’ Run
On March 11th, 2023, we celebrated the 9th annual Shamrock ‘N Run, a vibrant family-fun 5K run/walk! The event included a thrilling 5K race, entertainment, a delicious breakfast, and much more. In total, we successfully raised $12,000, which will directly support and enhance PHNCF’s literacy programs. Your participation and generosity have made a meaningful impact on advancing our commitment to literacy and community well-being.
Literacy Programs
In 2023, our literacy initiatives flourished with the addition of two new Little Free Libraries in Titusville, PA, and Lewistown, PA, bringing our total to seven and garnering over $500 in sponsorships and donations from local organizations. The community’s overwhelming support included over 3,000 book donations, enriching the content of our Little Free Libraries. The Reach Out and Read Program experienced success at five pediatric locations, distributing over 1,000 books, and expanded with two new programs in Titusville, PA, and Shenandoah, PA. Collaborations with community public libraries throughout Mercer, Mifflin, and Crawford counties further amplified our impact, reflecting the power of collective efforts in advancing literacy in our community.
PA OH Gives 2023
We express our sincere gratitude for your generous donations during the 4th annual PA OH Gives-Giving Week. Together, we successfully raised $970, thanks to your support and the matching funds from PA OH Gives. This year, our focus on literacy initiatives aimed to build a foundation for personal and community development. These contributions have played a vital role in fostering a love for learning and creating a brighter future for our communities.
PHNCF and Neighborhood North Collaboration
In November, we celebrated the successful revitalization of an innovative and educational waiting area at Primary Health Network’s Beaver Falls Primary Care location. This achievement is the result of a collaborative effort with the Neighborhood North Museum of Play, a community-based children’s museum committed to fostering curiosity and a love for learning. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was hosted on November 10th, officially inaugurating this pioneering initiative and symbolizing our collective commitment to enhancing the healthcare experience through educational engagement and growth.
GivingTuesday 2023
Your generosity empowered us to raise a total of $2,174. Thanks to your collective efforts, we are transforming the waiting room at Primary Health Network’s Sharon Medical Group Pediatrics into an educational hub, enhancing the experience for our visitors. Your support is making a meaningful impact, and we are truly thankful for your contribution.
Educational Tax Credit Program
In 2023, our commitment to education was fortified through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program, resulting in a $4,000 disbursement to support local private schools. This funding injection reflects our dedication to fostering educational excellence and providing opportunities for students in our community. The EITC initiative not only contributes to the advancement of academic programs but also underscores our belief in the transformative power of education as a catalyst for positive change in the lives of individuals and the community at large.
Swinging Fore Literacy
Swinging Fore Literacy, formally known as PHNCF’s Fall Classic Tournament, was hosted on October 9, 2023, and was a huge success! The event raised an impressive $21,000, directly benefiting our literacy initiatives. The support of our generous donors and participants made it a memorable occasion focused on community engagement and the promotion of health, wellness, and education.
